Lower Back Pain & Sciatica
Back discomfort is a highly frequent health concern that affects work performance and general well-being around the world. Pain affects people of all ages, from children to the elderly, and is a common reason for seeking medical help. Low back pain is one of the top ten diseases and injuries that cause Disability Adjusted Life Years in the world.
Causes include:
  • Muscle Strain and Ligament Sprain
  • Herniated Disc
  • Degenerative Disc Diseases
  • Arthritis
  • Trauma
  • Facet Joint Dysfunction
  • Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction
  • Spinal Stenosis
  • Postural Dysfunctions
Sciatica is a term that refers to leg nerve pain produced by irritation and/or compression of the sciatic nerve. Sciatica is a condition that begins in the lower back, extends deep into the buttocks, and continues down the leg. Herniated discs, spinal stenosis, piriformis syndrome, and spondylolisthesis are all possible causes.
Common signs of sciatica:
  • You may have pain that gets worse with movement.
  • You may have numbness or weakness in your legs or feet, which is usually felt along your sciatic nerve pathway.
  • You may feel the sensation of pins and needles, which may involve a painful tingling in your toes or feet.
  • You may experience incontinence, which is the inability to control your bladder or bowels.
A professional assessment and inspection of the spine can be performed by a registered physiotherapist, who can then propose the appropriate physiotherapy treatment. In the early stages of most back pain conditions, an x-ray or other imaging is not required for management.
